TouchID will reportedly return to the iPhone in 2021 with a new in-screen fingerprint scanner, an Apple analyst has predicted.
TouchID name given as Apple’s fingerprint recognition feature, which allowed iPhone users to unlock their devices, make payments and access sensitive data by touching the Home button at the bottom of the screen.
However, many iPhone fans have lament the loss of TouchID, claiming that FaceID is not as convenient or reliable.
Now renound Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a report, seen by 9to5Mac , claiming Apple will release an iPhone in 2021 featuring both FaceID and TouchID on the same device.
However, rather than building a fingerprint sensor into Apple’s now-defunct Home button, Apple will build it directly into the iPhone’s display, according to Kuo.
Apple has filed several patents for under-display fingerprint recognition technologies, including one that would allow iPhone users to unlock their devices by touching anywhere on the screen.
