Walmart to take on Amazon in India with Flipkart’s free video streaming service

Walmart-owned e-commerce company Flipkart is ready to further expand its horizons with plans to launch Over video streaming services.

Flipkart rivalry with’s Indian unit in the country. Unlike Amazon’s Prime video service, Flipkart won’t charge users for streaming and won’t launch a separate application for these services.

Wondering what’s Flipkart Plus? Not very different from Amazon Prime, Flipkart Plus is a subscription model which offers faster shipping and exclusive deals to users. The difference? Flipkart Plus is free. Flipkart shoppers can become members by amassing 300 “super coins,” at a rate of 2 for every INR 100 spent on its platform. These super coins can then be exchanged for products and services offered by the e-commerce platform.

Flipkart will serve entertainment to Plus users free of cost.

Flipkart isn’t planning to produce originals just yet but will instead rely on licensed content from the likes of Walt Disney and Balaji Telefilms .
