After heavy rain in ahmedabad, water tank collapse, two dead

Two people died and five were injured when a 25-year-old water tank collapsed in Bopal area. There is a school near the spot but the big accident was averted as children were not present at the spot.

The overhead tank collapsed due to cave in and it’s debris fell on a nearby canteen where labourers were sitting.

The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

“Three of them were brought dead, while six others are undergoing treatment. The condition of two of them is critical,” the hospital’s medical superintendent R.M. Jitiya said

“The water tank was constructed by the municipality in 1997. It collapsed due to sinking of soil. A probe has been ordered and action will be taken accordingly,” he said.

Seven fire brigade vehicles were engaged in rescue and relief work at the scene. Ahmedabad Collector Vikrant Pandey has called for strict action against the culprits after conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
