Two BSNL officers prosecuted, leader Geelani’s Internet operates despite banned

When the entire Valley was shut down and all communication lines across the state were snapped for over a week, Hurriyat leader Geelani was found tweeting from his account

Two BSNL officers have been prosecuted in the case. These officers are alleged to have given Geelani Internet access.

As part of the provision to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the government had banned Internet and telephone services in the Valley on August 4th.

But separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani used landline and Internet services for eight days after the ban.

According to information available, two BSNL officers were involved in the investigation. Both have since been prosecuted.

Geelani’s Internet service was discontinued following the incident.
