Bail plea rejected of Former Finance Chidambaram in INX Media case

Bail plea of formar Finance Minister P. Chidambaram in the INX Media case rejected by The Delhi High court on Tuesday.

High court allowed the central bureau of investigation (CBI); to submit additional documents on record in the defense of the case against Chidambaram on March 11.

The investigating agencies had opposed Chidambaram’s bail plea, saying that custodial interrogation of the formar Finance Minister was necessary as he was evasive and gave false information during his questioning.

The Delhi High Court granted interim protection from arrest for Chidambaram. The ED and the CBI are probing how his son Karti Chidambaram manage to get clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in 2007 when his father was the Finance Minister.

CBI arrested Karti Chidambaram on February 28,2018 for allegedly accepting money to facilitate the FIPB clearance to INX Media. He was later granted bail. His chartered accountant S. Bhaskararaman also arrested and released on bail later.
