Two people were killed and five injured after a wall collapsed in Bhiwandi city near Mumbai.
At least two persons were killed and several were injured when a dilapidated four-storey building in Bhiwandi; about 40 km north of Mumbai collapsed early Saturday even as residents were being evacuated, officials said.
“Four people have been rescued so far (from the debris), out of which one is dead and two are critically injured,” Ashok Rankhamb, Commissioner of Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation said.
He said that the building was in a dilapidated state and was being vacated when the incident took place.
The building does not have a name. We will file an FIR against the builder for negligence,” he said.
Two fire officials were also injured in the incident.
