Stock Markets To Remain Closed On Monday For Ganesh Chaturthi

Domestic equity, debt and currency markets will remain closed on Monday on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Last Friday, The Stock Market benchmark index S&P BSE Sensex To close at 37,332.79, While the broader NSE Nifty index Close at 11,023.25.

The rupee rose by 39 paise against the US dollar to end at 71.41 on Friday.

The Stock markets will resume trading on Tuesday, September 3.

The Sensex and Nifty shed 148.33 points – or 0.40 per cent – and 94.75 points – or 0.85 per cent – respectively in August. 

US tariffs went into effect Sunday on $112 billion of Chinese imports, while Beijing also began imposing retaliatory tariffs on some of the US goods on its $75 billion target list.

Wall Street stock futures weakened in early trade on Monday, setting a dour tone for Asian markets after tit-for-tat tariffs between the United States and China took effect, reinforcing investors’ gloomy expectations for global growth prospects.

The rupee depreciated 3.81 per cent against the US dollar last month.
