Onion from Kabul arrive, To help contain a price

The price of onion is no longer high as Kabul has started sending onion to a country which is in close friendship with India.

Afghan onion has been on sale in various cities of Punjab on the western border of the country for the past few days.

While 400 tonnes of onion came from Afghanistan yesterday, traders said about 2,000 more tonnes of the vegetable will come in from that country in the next 7-10 days.

“Considering the severe shortage of onion in the country which pushed up the prices quite high; we decided to import onion from Afghanistan.

Afghan traders are excited to sell onions in the market here and if the price of onions is 30 rupees per kilos here;the onions will come from Afghanistan.

After several days in Delhi’s Azadpur market, the prices of the wholesale onion have dropped below 40.
